Most of these magazine covers are for independently published magazines. Type based magazine covers are used to be striking and shocking to the people looking at it. It is also meant to be powerful. Concept based magazine covers are meant to be instantly understandable and appeal to the readers. However, it can be tough to make it so the readers can understand the joke, or the metaphor on the cover of the magazine. The relationship between words and photos are vital because the person looking at the cover should be able to understand the link between the words and photos so that they understand the cover.
